Hair Removal for Bodybuilding

Bodybuilders spend many hours in the gym to get as ripped as possible and reach their peak. After all this hard work is done, they take their turn on stage in hopes of bringing home a trophy. In order for their physiques to stand out and to see definition more clearly, bodybuilders remove all of their body hair. The chest, arms, stomach and legs are the most prominent areas targeted, and bodybuilders use several different methods to clear these zones. You can do the same by following some key steps.

Step 1

Remove the hair from your legs with a brand-new razor blade. Stand on a newspaper and cut the hair as close to the skin as possible with hair clippers. Go against the grain of the hair when cutting. Moisten the skin with warm water and apply shaving cream. Take the razor blade and run it across the legs in long, smooth strokes to remove the hair. Take a shower immediately after shaving to wash yourself off. Apply a moisturizing cream afterward.

Step 2

Use a depilatory cream on your arms and stomach. Wash your skin in the areas where you want to remove hair. Apply the depilatory cream and let it set for the time recommended by the manufacturer. Take a damp washcloth and wipe off the hair. Go against the grain when you do this motion. Then take a shower to wash off, and apply a moisturizer.

Step 3

Use tweezers in sensitive spots like around the nipples. Stretch the skin out with your index finger and thumb, with the hair you want removed in between. Hold the tweezers perpendicular to the hair shaft and close to the skin. Pull the hair straight out in a controlled fashion. Do not yank on hairs as this can cause them to break off.

Step 4

Get a wax treatment kit to target your chest. Apply the wax to your chest in an area where you have hair. Press the strip of cloth that comes with it across the top and smooth it out. Grab the edge of the cloth, contract your chest muscles and rip it off in a fast motion. Continue applying the wax and removing the hair in all the areas of your chest. Take a shower when you are finished.

Step 5

Get a more permanent fix. Visit a professional facility that does laser hair removal or electrolysis. Use these methods for any area on your body.

Tips and Warnings

  • Hair removal is time-consuming. Make sure you allot yourself a solid hour to get all the hair removed. Laser hair removal is done by shooting a laser into the melanin of the skin and killing the shaft of the hair. Melanin is what gives hair its color. Electrolysis is characterized by a tiny needle that goes into the hair follicles. An electric current then gets sent to the tip and zaps the hair, causing it to fall out.
  • Do not use a depilatory near the anus or genitals. Be aware that waxing can be very painful.
