Colon cleansing has a variety of inferences for today's health-conscious populous. It can infer an enema, which is the irrigation of the colon with fluids or ingestion of an internal supplement meant to flush the colon of toxins and stool buildup. Regardless of the type chosen, supporters of colon cleansing sustain that the body gives signals that alert you to buildup of feces in the colon. Watch for the signals of toxic buildup that may affect all the bodily systems from head to toe, which suggest the necessity of a colon cleanse.
Step 1
Monitor your bowel habits. The presence of constipation, or hard, dry stools may indicate a buildup of toxins and decreased efficiency of the colon. Toxic buildup in your colon may also indicate all sorts of maladies, such as headaches, insomnia, fatigue, allergic reactions, joint and back pain, mood changes and digestive problem, to name just a few.
Step 2
Watch for signs of bowel irritation such as bloating, abdominal discomfort and excessive flatulence, or gas released from the colon. These symptoms may indicate the need for a cleaner colon.
Step 3
Get a checkup and parasite screening at your doctor's office. Parasites are more common than you might think and they can migrate from a dirty colon into other parts of the anatomy, including the liver, joints, skin, blood and brain, according to an article in "Natural Healing Today" magazine. They may not be as obvious as a giant tapeworm -- some hosts may be unaware of their presence.
Step 4
Keep an eye on your diet. Diets that rely on fast food and processed or boxed foods may cause you to hold on to more sludge in the colon than people who consume whole foods that are part of a natural, high-fiber diet.
