Bee pollen is made from worker bees and is made up of plant pollen, plant nectar and bee saliva. This supplement has been used historically for various ailments, but there are no clinical studies that provide evidence that this supplement is effective. The lack of studies also means that the recommended dosage is not known, and can vary based on health status and age. Due to the lack of research on bee pollen, ask your doctor whether this supplement is safe for you to take and how it may help you.

Step 1

Consume bee pollen as an athletic performance supplement. Although there are few clinical studies on the efficacy of bee pollen, anecdotal stories of improved athletic performance exist. This supplement provides a plethora of nutrients and contains nearly 100 amino acids, vitamins, enzymes and minerals, and is approximately 30 percent protein.

Step 2

Use bee pollen to increase appetite, relieve constipation, treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, treat gastrointestinal disorders and to promote health. There are no clinical studies that provide evidence that this supplement works, but these are traditional uses of this product.

Step 3

Follow the directions on the package of bee pollen supplements. The lack of a generally accepted dosage of bee pollen can make it difficult to know if you are taking the right amount, so check with your doctor or a pharmacist if you have any questions about the dosage.
