Step 1

Eat three hearty meals a day, with no snacks in between. Ayurvedic practitioner Dr. John Douillard believes the emphasis on six meals a day in American culture is due to imbalanced blood sugar. According to Ayurvedic medicine, the time in between meals will help your body burn fat and steady your blood sugar by teaching your body to spread energy out throughout the day. This will further help weight loss by causing you to not have as many cravings. Douillard notes that Americans often eat snacks instead of meals, leading to a lack of nutrients and energy for your body.
Step 3
Focus your full attention on your meals. Instead of multi-tasking while eating, try paying attention to the flavors and smells of your meals and relax. When you slow down while eating, your body can digest your food better. You are also more likely to pay attention to how much you are eating and stop when you are full.
