Agaricus is a mushroom native to Brazil and popular throughout many other regions of the world for its nutty flavor, meaty texture and medicinal properties. Most notably, agaricus contains beta glucans, which are powerful immunity-enhancing substances that are also believed to be helpful in fighting cancer. According to Dr. Edward Group on his health website Global Healing Center, agaricus might also contain the neurotransmitter GABA, which stimulates your brain to be more efficient. When given to mildly hypertensive patients, agaricus was shown to lower blood pressure significantly.

Step 1

Add fresh or dried agaricus mushrooms to stir fry, pastas and soups. Go to mitobi.com/agaricus_recipes_home.htm for ideas on how to cook with agaricus. Be careful not to overcook the mushroom in order to retain the integrity of its therapeutic nutrients.

Step 2

Make a medicinal tea by adding 8 grams of agaricus to 1 quart of boiling water in a glass jar or an iron or stainless steel pan. Do not use aluminum. Turn off the heat once you have added the mushrooms and allow the tea to steep for several minutes. You may store the tea in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Step 3

Take agaricus capsules, available online or at your local health food store. Follow package directions or consult your doctor.

Step 4

Take tincture of agaricus, which you can buy online or at your local health food store. Follow package directions or consult your health care provider on how to take it.
