When your body enters the state of ketosis, a byproduct called ketones is released into the bloodstream. The ketones can cause damage to the liver and kidneys. During ketosis, instead of burning glucose for energy, the body burns fat. Symptoms of ketosis include dizziness, weakness, nausea and mood swings.

If you are experiencing the symptoms of ketosis, then you are not likely to keep up with your workout program. Along with losing fat, your lack of activity will cause you to lose muscle mass.
