When you're munching on a bag of raw peanuts while watching baseball or grabbing a handful of the nuts as a snack, expect to consume plenty of calories. This healthy snack provides significant nutritional benefits, too. According to the National Peanut Board, regular consumption of peanuts may help you maintain a healthy heart.

High in Calories and Fatty Acids

The precise nutritional value of raw peanuts depends on their variety. One cup of raw Virginia peanuts contains 822 calories, 36.8 grams of protein, 24.2 grams of carbohydrates and 12.4 grams of fiber, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Nutrient Database. The serving size also includes 1,007 milligrams of potassium, 18.1 milligrams of niacin, 3.7 milligrams of iron, 36.9 grams of monounsaturated fatty acids and 21.5 grams of polyunsaturated fatty acids. One cup of raw Spanish peanuts contains 832 calories, 38.2 grams of protein, 23.1 grams of carbs and 13.9 grams of fiber. The serving also has 1,086 milligrams of potassium, 23.2 milligrams of niacin, 5.7 milligrams of iron, 32.6 grams of monounsaturated fatty acids and 25.1 grams of polyunsaturated fatty acids.
