Salsa
According to the American College of Sports Medicine, salsa dancing is intense enough to enhance fitness and increase your metabolism The basic salsa dance move requires stepping out to the side, then returning your foot back to center and moving the other foot to the side, then returning it back to center. While your feet are moving, your hips circle around in a figure eight.
Ballet
Ballet provides increased overall strength, improves posture, tones your muscles, and promotes aerobic endurance. Ballet dancers, both male and female, have slender, muscular frames with little to no body fat. If done on a regular basis, ballet provides the key elements of a balanced fitness regimen.
Hip Hop
Hip hop is a dance form that has become popular due to artists such as Britney Spears, NSync and Backstreet Boys. This cardio workout combines hip hop dance, with isolation exercises to burn calories and tone muscles. Hip hop routines range from beginner to advanced, depending on your skill and fitness level. Some gyms offer classes to members and most dance studios offer hip hop dance classes.
Zumba
Zumba has recently become a popular dance craze across the country. Beto Perez developed this dance style in his native country, Colombia, and it is now a dance exercise class. Zumba uses interval training, with fast-paced dance moves alternated with slower dance moves. Zumba promotes this workout as being more like partying than exercising.
