Snap Fitness franchises have increased in popularity to the point you probably have access to one of its gyms with an hour's drive. Snap Fitness centers are open 24 hours a day and have a variety of equipment to put together a circuit-training workout. Your circuit may include aerobic exercises to increase your cardiovascular health and aid in weight loss.
Strength Circuit
Circuit training uses a set number of exercise stations with little rest between each. Select your strength training exercises based upon your goals, but a total body workout will help to increase muscle tissue and promote weight loss. For example, include exercises such as a chest press, arm curl, shoulder press, leg extension, back pulldown, abdominal crunch and leg press to activate your large muscle groups. Snap Fitness centers have an exercise machine for each body part.
Tools
Snap Fitness centers offer weight machines, cables and free weights. Your Snap gym may also have kettlebells or medicine balls, which you can include in your strength circuit. Using dumbbells will help you train your right and left arms equally; your dominant arm will not be able to carry the majority of the weight as it would when using an exercise machine. Your weight amount should be one you can lift eight to 20 times, depending on the length of your circuit.
Workout
Personal trainers are available at Snap gyms to help you determine your circuit-training workout. If you are setting up a circuit on your own, aim to minimize the distance between each exercise. For example, if you choose to perform a chest press and then a leg press, but the leg press is on the opposite side of the gym, you may want to perform lunges on your way, or select a machine that is closer. Begin the circuit by performing eight to 20 repetitions of your first exercise. Immediately walk to your next exercise and perform eight to 20 reps. This continues until you complete every one of your intended movements. Complete the circuit from one to three times.
Aerobic
You can include aerobic stations in between your strength training stations. IDEA Health and Fitness suggests a 30-second to three-minute aerobic exercise to improve your cardiovascular endurance. Select aerobic exercises such as treadmill walking, stair climbing, elliptical running, or rowing, depending on the machines available at your local Snap Fitness. This addition of aerobic will help burn calories, which leads to weight loss.
Body Weight
If your Snap Fitness center is crowded, you may not have the immediate access to the workout machines. The American Council on Exercise suggests using body-weight exercises in your circuit workouts as an alternative. Instead of a chest press, perform a pushup. Instead of using the abdominal machine, perform a woodchop exercise by swinging a dumbbell the way you would an ax. You can also perform lunges or squats for your lower body instead of using the leg press machine.
