Epilepsy is a chronic neurological condition that causes seizures. With medical care, people with epilepsy have the potential to live nearly seizure-free. However, even when the condition is under control, it is not cured. Managing epilepsy requires constant diligence. Passionflower is an herb that has been used North America and Europe to treat a variety of conditions, including epilepsy, anxiety and insomnia. Consult your physician before using passionflower or any other medication or supplement to treat your epilepsy.
Step 1
Administer approximately 10 drops of passionflower tincture under your tongue three times per day for one week. Do not eat or drink anything for at least 15 minutes after taking passionflower. The tincture is absorbed by the mucus membranes in your mouth. Eating or drinking too soon would force you to swallow the unabsorbed tincture. Although there is no harm in swallowing the tincture, the tincture is almost entirely ineffective when swallowed.
Step 2
Increase your passionflower dose to 20 drops three times per day for one week.
Step 3
Increase your passionflower dosage to 30 drops of the tincture three times per day. Continue to administer 30 drops of the tincture three times per day as long as you and your doctor believe it is beneficial in managing your epilepsy.
