If you have just a small amount of weight to lose, or an upcoming event for which you'd like to shed some pounds, you might be interested in the Kellogg's Diet Plan, or Special K Challenge. This challenge is a two-week-long meal plan with an average weight loss of 4.8 lbs. Before you start any diet or weight loss plan, get your doctor's approval.
Getting Started
Once you log on to the Special K Challenge website, you can choose from the Classic plan, which has a basic selection of foods, the Mix-It-Up plan for people who love variety, the Chocolate Lover's plan for individuals with a sweet-tooth as the emphasis is on chocolate-flavored Special K products, and the On-the-Go plan for travelers, workaholics or busy parents. Enter the starting date of your choice to receive your two-week meal plan. You can follow the plan as written, or substitute individual meals or snacks from the suggested choices.
Special K Meals
Replace two of your regular meals with Special K meals. You can have a Special K protein meal bar, such as strawberry, honey almond or chocolate chip, or a chocolate, strawberry or vanilla shake. Another option is to have serving of Special K cereal, such as cinnamon pecan, high-protein, original or multi-grain, along with 2/3 cup of skim milk and a serving of fruit. If you choose Special K granola, skip the milk or the fruit.
Regular Meal
The instructions note that you should eat one meal per day as you normally would, but keep it healthy. You can eat this meal as your first, second or third meal of the day. Special K suggests recipes such as skillet shrimp with tomatoes and feta, pork chops with a pomegranate glaze or Jamaican chicken breast with mashed sweet potatoes. Ideas for cold meals include a Mediterranean turkey sandwich or a roast beef sandwich; vegetarian ideas include a veggie burger or vegetarian chili.
Snacks and Other Information
Drink your regular beverages and have two Special K snacks per day. Options include Special K protein water or snack bars, fruit crisps, crackers or cracker chips. The Special K diet allows fruits and vegetables as additional snacks to decrease hunger and increase your nutrient intake. At the Special K website, you can get advice on making nutritious or low-calorie food choices, increasing your physical activity levels and staying motivated in your fitness program.
