How to Get Pregnant Without IVF

Ovulation (the release of a mature egg) only occurs once per cycle. If the egg is not fertilized within a few days of being released, conception will not occur. Although some couples decide to try IVF treatments (where the egg is fertilized outside of the womb by sperm and then introduced back into the uterus to implant) in order to conceive, the cost of the procedures and the required dedication sometimes make this option not possible. Adjusting your normal routine can help you conceive without using IVF or other fertility treatments.

Step 1

Monitor for ovulation signs. Cervical mucus will be clear and either watery or stretchy (similar to egg whites) around ovulation. The cervical OS (which is the opening to the cervix) will be slightly open.

Step 2

Use egg whites to increase mobility. Separate the white of an egg and use it as a lubricant during sexual intercourse. The egg white contains nutrients similar to those found in sperm and will allow the sperm to move easier through the vagina, cervix, uterus and fallopian tubes.

Step 3

Take Robitussin to increase fertile cervical mucus. Robitussin, often used to relieve congestion and coughs, causes the cervical mucus to have an egg-white texture. This texture is considered to be the most fertile type of cervical mucus.

Step 4

Elevate hips during intercourse. Use a pillow under the hips to elevate your pelvis. This will allow your cervix to align with the vagina better and will allow sperm to swim into the uterus easily.

Step 5

Insert a feminine cup after intercourse. Feminine cups, such as the Instead cup, is commonly used to contain menstrual blood. These cups are also used to keep sperm next to the cervix in order to prevent the sperm from being expelled. Cups should be inserted after intercourse and should be worn for 12 hours to increase the chance of conception.
