Even if a guy wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of volleyball boxer shorts, they can still make a humorous gift option. But men's volleyball gifts can also be more serious and just as functional. Your choice depends on the man's personal taste and how well you know him. And the boxer shorts might not work for your coach.

Outerwear

Men's volleyball sweatshirts, sweatpants, T-shirts and baseball caps are available at sporting good, sports and novelty retailers. One choice is a functional array of hooded sweatshirts, crew neck sweatshirts, caps and Tees sporting an image of the ball, the word "volleyball," or both. Another option is humor. Order a custom sweatshirt, cap or T-shirt from a custom print shop with a funny saying or image, such as a "Big Man on the Volleyball Court," or a cartoon of a man bonked in the head by the volleyball with the phrase "I should have gone fishing."

Underwear, Shorts and Blankets

Boxers with little volleyballs all over them are on the humorous end, while compression shorts or sports shorts in a variety of colors and patterns can work in the game. Short lengths vary from high-cut to knee-length and are available in moisture-wicking materials that help combat sweat. Volleyball-inspired throws and afghans can add a sports-oriented and cozy touch -- even to a bachelor pad. Volleyball boxers come in both men and women's styles, so pick accordingly.

Trinkets

Although charm bracelets and volleyball anklets might not work for men, other trinkets can. A huge array of volleyball key chains are on the market, ranging from miniature rubber volleyballs to personalized key chains you can have engraved. Other key chain options include two-dimensional pewter or acrylic volleyballs attached to a key ring. More trinket ideas include gear bag tags, magnets and license plate holders. Novelty and sports shops are your best bet for key chains and other trinkets.

Books and Stationery Products

Books work for guys who like volleyball as much as they like to read and learn. Books and DVDs on technical aspects of the game are one option, with topics covering drills, techniques, mental toughness, basic training and other instructional information. Coaching books are available if the guy happens to be a coach. Volleyball bumper stickers or a custom silver volleyball pen are other options.
