Turkey mince, also known as ground turkey, can be used as a replacement for higher-carbohydrate red meat products, including ground beef, lamb, pork and veal. Low-carb turkey mince can be added to endless recipes that can be enjoyed throughout the day while helping you save carbs, fat and cholesterol.

Breakfast

For breakfast, instead of having sausage patties with your eggs and biscuits, add spices to your turkey mince and make it into turkey patties. Serve with pita bread or whole-wheat tortillas instead of biscuits for a tasty low-carb meal. Instead of having sausage gravy and biscuits, make the gravy out of lower-carb turkey mince and replace the biscuits with a low-carb flatbread or pita bread. Or, instead of using standard-sized bread, choose thinner-sliced versions for fewer carbs.

One-Bowl Meals

A number of one-bowl meals with turkey mince can fit into your low-carb diet. Examples of one-bowl meals include varieties of chili in which beef or pork are replaced by turkey mince; turkey lasagna made with low-carb noodles; soups including split pea or lentil with turkey mince; or mini-turkey mince meatballs with vegetables. Accompanying your one-bowl dish with whole-wheat tortillas, tortilla or pita chips, thin-sliced whole-grain bread or low-carb whole-grain crackers and a fresh greens salad can provide a nourishing and easy meal that stays within your carb guidelines.

Salads

Making a greens salad with various topping can be a nutritious, low-carb way to use turkey mince. A 2-cup serving of Romaine lettuce contains 3 g of carbs, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Add vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers and snow peas topped with turkey mince to satisfy your dinner meal nutritional requirements. Using nuts instead of croutons is another way to save on carbs. A 1-oz. serving of sliced almonds contains 6 g of carbs, whereas a 1-oz. serving of croutons contains 18 g of carbs, according to the US Department of Agriculture.

Sandwiches

Turkey mince can be made into meatballs to be used in meatball sandwiches. Other options for turkey mince in sandwiches include tacos, barbecued turkey burgers, sloppy joes and grilled turkey burgers topped with pineapple. Instead of thick-sliced bread or buns, choose pita bread or thin-sliced breads to decrease your carb consumption. Make turkey wraps with cooked turkey mince rolled in tortillas. Try completing your low-carb sandwich meal with black iced tea as a beverage, fresh veggies as a side dish and fresh fruit for dessert.
