Cycling classes can help you lose weight and tone up your lower body. Indoor cycling classes take you on a ride that stimulates outdoor riding. On your bike, you will climb up hills and build speed with sprints allowing your body to scorch major calories. A cycle class will leave you drenched in sweat and help you reach your weight loss goals.

Weight Loss

You can not spot reduce areas where you wish lose weight. When your body loses weight, fat is lost throughout your body. The amount and areas largely affected are based on your gender, genetics and age. There is no way to simply lose fat from just one area. Instead, weight loss is spread evenly through your body. Cycling helps you lose weight throughout your entire body because it scorches major calories.

Calories

In order to lose 1 lb., you must burn 3,500 calories. Burning 500 calories a day will help you lose a healthy weight loss of 1 lb. per week. The average cycle student will burn between 400 and 500 calories in a 40-minute cycle class, which will help you reach your desired weight loss goals. Based on the distance you cycle, your intensity and your speed, your results will vary.

Lean Legs

Cycling will help you gain muscular endurance and tone your legs. Climbing in cycle class, achieved by adding resistance to your bike, creates the experience of riding a bike up hills. Climbing in class is an excellent way to build strength to create shapelier legs and will add more muscle to increase your metabolism. Adding more muscle will help create leaner legs as fat starts to burn off.

Interval Training

Cycle class often incorporates interval training into the workout. Interval training requires short bursts of work, followed by a recovery period. The American Council of Exercise explains that interval training burns more calories than traditional exercise because it uses both the aerobic and the anaerobic energy systems. Scorching calories will help you shed body fat and help you lose inches in your legs.
