The key to appearing youthful is to have youthful-looking skin. We only get one set of skin. Signs of aging show up on the ski, first. Our diet, activity level, contact with free radicals and the environment, the amount of rest we receive, as well as a skin-care regimen, all affect our skin. If you're aiming to get younger-looking skin, there are simple steps that can be taken to lessen visible stress and signs of aging on the skin.
Step 1
Examine or establish (or if you don't have one) a skin-care regimen. Cleanse and moisturize your face twice daily---in the morning and before bed. Taking a bath or shower once per day to cleanse the rest of your body is sufficient unless you work out or happen to get dirty from cleaning or doing yard work, for example. Use a facial cleanser, body wash and moisturizer that are suitable for your skin type. When choosing these products consider whether your skin is oily, dry, normal or a combination thereof.
Step 2
Drink plenty of water. Water flushes out toxins and keeps the skin hydrated, which affects the appearance of your skin.
Step 3
Exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and keep your skin looking refreshed. Exfoliate your face no more than once per week with an exfoliant designed specifically for facial use. Use a heavier exfoliant for your body as needed.
Step 4
Reduce breakouts by ensuring that your hands, towels and clothing are clean before touching your skin.
Step 5
Treat your skin delicately. Heavy friction or undue pressure can cause the skin to look distressed and wrinkled.
Step 6
Use a vitamin supplement such as vitamin E as a supplementary conditioner for your skin. You can take vitamin E capsules orally or apply them topically to your skin. Many lotions and moisturizers also contain vitamin E.
