You should compare the nutrition facts of these soups to the FDA nutrient recommendations when analyzing the nutrition facts. Although these recommendations are simply guidelines, they can give you a good idea if it is healthy or unhealthy to consume certain products. Based on an average consumption of 2,000 calories a day, the FDA recommends most adults should limit their intake of total fat to less than 65 g, limit their intake of saturated fat to less than 20 g and limit their cholesterol to less than 300 mg. The organization also recommends getting approximately 300 g of carbohydrates, 25 g of dietary fiber and 50 g of protein each day. While there is no established FDA daily value recommendations for trans fat or sugar, the organization suggests avoiding them entirely whenever possible. The FDA's sodium recommendation is up to 2,400 mg of sodium each day, but the American Heart Association suggests that many people may benefit from a daily sodium intake of less than 1,500 mg a day.
