It is possible to lose 10 pounds in 10 days, but you'll need to stay motivated and disciplined with your diet and exercise. Losing weight fast can be unhealthy if not done correctly, so be sure to avoid starving yourself or over-exerting yourself at the gym. Those techniques will only lead to health problems and subsequent weight gain.

Step 1

Write down a list of healthy meals which you will eat over the next 10 days. This list should include high protein/low-carb foods, and each meal combination should consist of 300 to 500 calories. You can find a great selection of recipes with calorie, cook time and other nutritional information at MealsForYou.com. Eating healthier will be the most crucial aspect of your 10-day weight-loss plan--exercise will simply speed up the process.

Step 2

Throw out all of the sugary snacks that you have in your home. If you don't have these snacks around to tempt you, you will have a better chance of succeeding. In order to lose a pound per day, you must stick to a strict diet that doesn't include sugary snacks or foods that contain white flour (i.e., white bread, bagels, pastas and most baked goods). Sodas, energy drinks, and other sugar-filled drinks should also be avoided.

Step 3

Eat four or five small meals per day. Each meal should be high in protein and contain at least one vegetable. A good example of such a meal would include: a chicken breast, side of seasoned broccoli and a cup of whole grain rice. Other good foods include: eggs, fish, cheese (not sliced), skim milk, anything made with wheat gluten, vegetables and fruit.

Step 4

Begin an exercise program on Day 1. This may include jogging or walking for 10 to 15 minutes every other day. If you find that walking is too easy on your body, try jogging or running instead. You must exercise with enough intensity so that your heart rate increases, you begin to breathe hard and you work up a good sweat. The goal is to burn about 300 calories per workout. This is easy to monitor on a treadmill, but if exercising outdoors, it may be a good idea to purchase a pedometer equipped with a calorie estimator feature.

Step 5

Drink a lot of water. Water is an essential part of living a healthy life, and it's also essential to any weight-loss program. Try to have a container of water with you wherever you go and sip it throughout the day. It will help you eat less, give you more energy and help your body to burn fat more efficiently.

Step 6

Live an active lifestyle. This simply means that you should get off the couch and do something active. For instance, clean the house, walk the dog, mow the lawn, shovel the driveway, play with your kids, vacuum, or anything else that gets your body moving. Sitting in front of the TV or computer all day will only make you lazy and less motivated. Follow these steps and within 10 days you will have lost about 10 pounds.

Tips and Warnings

  • To ensure the correct portion size of each meal, switch to smaller plates than what you're currently using. Smaller plates fit less food on them, and they help trick your brain into thinking you're eating a full plate of food like before, only it's a smaller portion in reality. When you get a craving for something sweet, have a piece of fruit. Use artificial sweetener instead of sugar in your coffee, tea and baked goods.
  • Never begin a diet or weight loss program without first consulting your doctor. Be sure to never over-exert yourself when exercising, because that is counterproductive and potentially harmful to your body. If you feel short of breath, dizzy, nauseous, or faint, discontinue exercise immediately.
