There's a pass, a kick, goal! According to Surefire Soccer, "when working with 4 year olds you'll want to use really basic soccer drills that are fun and easy." Use drills that allow the child to work on basic skills such as ball-control, striking, passing and dribbling the ball.

Breathing Room/Shooting Drill

Use the penalty area for this drill, and set up cones for the goals. You need seven 4-year-olds for this drill. Four children act as defenders, two play defense and one is the neutral player. The neutral player throws the ball into the area of the offensive players. The offensive players dribble to get a controlled shot into the goal, while the other players defend.

Musical Balls/Dribbling Drill

For musical balls, use half of the soccer field. You need five children per group and four soccer balls. Place the four balls in front of the center circle, while the five children line up on the 6-yard line. When the whistle is blown, the children race to the balls and try to control them around the field. The child left without a ball attempts to steal one away from another child. This drill lasts one minute, or until the whistle is blown.

Shark in the Middle/Passing Drill

Have the children stand in a large circle, and pick one child to be the "shark" in the middle of the circle. The children around the circle pass to one another as the shark tries to intercept. The passing continues until the child in the middle steals the ball. The child who passes the ball that was stolen is now the shark.

Knock Down the Flags/Shooting Drill

Set up four flags 3 yards apart from each other on one side of the 50-yard line and another set of flags on the other side. Each team needs to be split up into three offensive players and two defensive players. The defensive players are responsible to protect their flags, while the offensive players try to kick and knock down the opposing team's flags.
