Unfortunately, it's not possible to pick and choose where to lose weight. To blast the fat off your belly, you must incorporate a variety of cardio as well as strength training exercises and gym equipment into your workout routine. As your fitness levels improve, you will see an overall reduction in fat throughout your entire body.

Cardio

The first step to help guarantee a smaller belly is by adding cardiovascular gym equipment into your routine. You can choose from among many pieces of cardiovascular gym equipment, including the exercise bicycle, treadmill, elliptical machine, stair stepper, rowing machine or recumbent exercise bike. If none of these options sounds appealing than try rebounding. A rebounder is a mini-trampoline that not only helps burn off the fat but also helps improve your coordination and balance, and increase your bone density. Just 20 minutes a day three days a week is enough to start seeing some great results.

Abdominal Machines

In addition to burning off the excess flab from your belly, you should look to trim and tone your adbominal muscles. The gym is home to many different types of abdominal machines. Choose from the vertical knee raise as well as the roman chair and an abdominal-board. The gym also features abdominal machines that focus on particular areas of your abs, such as the upper or lower abdominals as well as the sides of your abdominals. Start off with one set of 10 reps, then build your way up to complete more as your fitness levels improve. Follow the instructions found on the machine.

Balls

There are different kinds of balls available at the gym that will help strengthen and trim your belly. Use a medicine ball when performing crunches either on an abdominal board or on the floor. Work out with a friend and toss the medicine ball to them each time you come up for a rep. Then have them throw the ball back to you as you lie back down. Another ball to incorporate into your workout routine is a stability ball. There are many stability ball exercises that focus on the abs. Also look for stability discs and/or a BOSU ball.

Extracurricular Activities

Trimming down your belly will take some time and energy. Invigorate your weight loss mission by incorporating extracurricular activities into your workout routine. Most gyms feature amenities such as a swimming pool, rock climbing wall, various aerobics and fitness classes as well as various sports such as basketball and volleyball. Choose to participate in one of these events and burn some major calories. For example, a 155-lb. person can burn more than 490 calories in just one hour of high-intensity aerobics. Activities like aerobics will help reduce your belly in no time.
