Nitro Muscle Mass is a dietary supplement that is used for muscle gain and strength. Its main ingredient is L-arginine, an amino acid popular in bodybuilding supplements that stimulates the release of growth hormone, insulin and other substances in the body. L-arginine also acts as a precursor for the chemical nitric oxide that works to dilate blood vessels and increase blood flow in your body. Increased blood flow due to nitric oxide allows your body to deliver more oxygen and nutrients to hard working muscles allowing them to work longer without experiencing fatigue. According to the Mayo Clinic, L-arginine has been well tolerated by most people in research studies; however, side effects may still occur.
Some people may experience nausea or diarrhea while taking Nitro Muscle Mass. Abdominal pain and bloating have also been reported as potential side effects caused by supplements containing L-arginine. You may be able to stop these side effects by changing the amount of the supplement you take.
L-arginine is thought to be a major building block used by the herpes virus that allows the virus to replicate and spread. Nitro Muscle Mass increases levels of L-arginine in the body, which may increase the chance of a herpes outbreak in people who have the virus.
Low Blood Pressure
When L-arginine is converted into nitric oxide in the body, the increased level of nitric oxide dilates your blood vessels, which can cause a drop in blood pressure. If you already have low blood pressure, a further drop in blood pressure may cause symptoms of light headiness, dizziness, fainting, blurry vision, and confusion.
There has been some evidence that products containing L-arginine may worsen symptoms of asthma by causing inflammation in the lungs. The Mayo Clinic recommends that people suffering from asthma should avoid taking L-arginine.
Interaction with Other Drugs
Major side effects may occur if the supplement is taken with medications for high blood pressure or medications that increase blood flow to the heart by causing a significant drop in blood pressure or excessive blood flow to the heart. Taking the supplement while using medications for erectile dysfunction may also cause blood pressure that is too low. If you are currently taking other over the counter or prescription medications, make sure you discuss any new dietary supplements with your physician before taking them. Other possible side effects of Nitro Muscle Mass include blood abnormalities, gout and allergies.
