With low-carb diet plans like Atkins and the Zone dominating weight loss headlines it can be easy to forget that there are a number of healthy high carb diet foods to choose from. Far from promoting weight gain, these carbohydrate-rich foods can augment the success from any weight loss diet plan you choose to follow.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a carb-rich food breakfast that combats appetite. Oatmeal is high in soluble fiber, a special class of fiber that slows digestion in the stomach. A study in the 2011 issue of "Appetite" had volunteers eat a test meal consisting of oatmeal or skim milk. The oatmeal group reported higher levels of fullness and lower levels of hunger than the skim milk group. Oatmeal can be eaten at any time of day as a snack or a fibrous side dish.

Beans

Beans like cannelloni beans and pinto beans are high-carb diet foods that can help boost the weight loss results you achieve from dieting, the April 2010 "FASEB Journal" notes. In this study, volunteers that ate beans daily had fewer cravings and lost more weight than those that didn't eat beans. Beans can be incorporated into your diet by eating more bean salads, bean burritos and chili.

Whole Wheat Bread

Many people know that wheat bread is a healthier than white bread. That's because whole wheat bread contains significantly more fiber, vitamins and minerals than refined bread. Additionally, whole wheat bread is digested more slowly than white bread. Slowly digesting carbs like whole wheat bread reduce hunger levels and promotes an appropriate caloric intake, Harvard University reports. Add whole wheat bread to your diet by crafting whole wheat bread versions of sandwiches, toast and pizza.

Fruit

Some people avoid fruit because they are rich in sugar and carbs. However, fruits are healthy foods that aid in weight control, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports. You can add fresh fruit to your diet by substituting calorie rich snacks and desserts like baked goods with fresh fruit like berries, bananas and oranges.
