A healthy and balanced diet is also essential to reaching your weight-loss goals. The foods you eat play a large role in the way your body looks. Simply adding a few foods to your diet during meal times and snacks can help increase the speed at which you lose weight.
Almonds
Almonds are a nutrient-dense food that can be eaten on the go for a healthy snack option. Almonds help with weight loss because they contain monounsaturated fats. These fats promote weight loss because they increase both satiety and your metabolic rate. The Natural News Website reported that a study published in the "International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders", found that including almonds in a low-calorie diet can help overweight people lose pounds more effectively than a low-calorie diet that is high in complex carbohydrates.
Berries
Berries like blueberries, strawberries and raspberries all promote weight loss when added into your diet. Berries are filled with nutrients like antioxidants which will improve your health as well as fiber which will fuel your weight loss. Fiber-filled foods will keep you full longer and prevent overeating. Add berries to your breakfast cereals, low-fat yogurt or tossed into your salad to add extra fiber and keep you full and satisfied.
Low-Fat Protein
Include low-fat protein sources into your diet to help you lose weight. The Washington Post reported, in December 2006, a study by the University of Washington that revealed a connection between lean protein and weight loss. In the study people who consumed 30 percent of their daily calories from lean-protein foods reduced their daily caloric intake by 441 calories and dropped 11 lbs. Lean protein sources include chicken, eggs, turkey, beans and low-fat dairy products. Red meats and whole dairy products contain saturated fat and should be limited in your diet.
Green Tea
Green tea is a beverage that you can actually drink to help slim your waistline and drop weight. According to a study, in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition," published in December 1999, consuming green tea helps with fat loss. The catechins and caffeine found in green tea help increase your metabolism resulting in altering your body composition. Choose to consume green teas that do not have added sugars.
