Sodium hyaluronate is sold under the brand name Euflexxa, an injection that treats pain caused by osteoarthritis, explains Drugs.com. Euflexxa is similar to the synovial fluid that surrounds the joints, which acts as a lubricant and shock absorber, suggests Drugs.com. Individuals are only given this medication when other pain-relieving treatments are unsuccessful. As with any medication, Euflexxa has the potential for side effects.
