Losing lots of weight doesn't have to mean losing your money. While the diet industry produces and markets an array of expensive diet foods, there are plenty of effective diet foods that don't cost much. Including the four best four frugal diet foods into your diet can help you lose weight and save money. Check in with your doctor before embarking on any diet plan to ensure that it's appropriate for you.

Peanuts

You can lose weight with peanuts for peanuts by including these nutritious nuts into your reduced-calorie diet. Purdue University's Richard Mattes published a review in the September 2008 "The Journal of Nutrition" stating that nuts were effective weight-loss boosters. However, many nuts, like cashews and almonds, can be pricey. Fortunately, peanuts have many of the same benefits at a much lower price.

Frozen Vegetables

Vegetables are a naturally low-calorie food that can help you lose weight while feeling full due to the fiber they contain. However, buying your favorite vegetables out of season can bring on a serious case of sticker shock. Frozen vegetables have the same health benefits as fresh veggies at a much more frugal-friendly price, "Arthritis Today" notes.

Oats

Old-fashioned oats are a budget-friendly breakfast option that can curb your appetite. Oats are bursting with soluble fiber, a special class of dietary fiber that clears cholesterol and combats appetite. Additionally, oats have a low glycemic load, a determination of the speed at which a carbohydrate-rich foods gets absorbed. A diet based on low glycemic diet foods, like oatmeal, can curb appetite and make dieting easier, Oregon State University reports.

Eggs

Starting your day off with inexpensive egg omelet or scrambled eggs reduce your appetite significantly, an October 2008 "International Journal of Obesity" study found. In this study, men who ate two eggs for breakfast lost more 65 percent more total body weight over a two-month period. Eggs are high in dietary cholesterol. If you have elevated cholesterol levels, limit the number of eggs you eat.
