How to Do the Bow & Arrow in Wrestling

The bow and arrow wrestling move is a cradle-like maneuver banned from use in high school wrestling but legal on the collegiate level. The move is effective because executing the move puts the attacker at little risk of being thrown or reversed. Additionally, because the move is illegal in high school, many wrestlers aren't familiar with the technique and won't be quick to defend against it. The move can be performed in any position in which the attacker is on the back of his opponent.

Step 1

Start on the back of the opponent. Lock your legs around one of his legs.

Step 2

Reach back and grab the ankle of the opponent's leg you have locked and pull it backward toward his shoulder.

Step 3

Press your knee into the opponent's back and wrap your other arm around his neck, putting him into a choke hold.

Step 4

Roll over and wrap your legs around the opponent's leg you have cradled so you and the opponent are now locked together on your sides. Pull on his leg and neck as you try to maneuver his shoulder onto the mat for a pin.
