Losing weight can be troublesome, to say the least. Choosing a diet is sometimes the most difficult part of all. The 3-Hour Diet is one of many diets on the market, but what may set it apart from the rest is the foundation upon which it is build. Before choosing it as your weight-loss catalyst, you should know some basic facts about it.
The Creator
The diet is the brainchild of Jorge Cruise, a once-overweight child turned fitness guru and author of "The 3-Hour Diet: How Low-Carb Diets Make You Fat and Timing Makes You Thin." He is also author of "8 Minutes in The Morning." A well-known fitness trainer, Cruise has quite a following -- more than 3 million online clients in search of a simple yet effective weight-loss plan.
The Basics
Eating every three hours, or the equivalent of five to six meals a day for most people, helps burn fat and stabilize your blood-sugar levels, which naturally suppresses your appetite, according to 3HourDiet.com. It is not necessarily what you eat, but when and how much. The idea behind Cruise's diet is that eating small, frequent meals prevents you from binge eating, resulting in fewer cravings. Eating the right foods at the right times helps you burn fat each week that the site claims will never return.
Function
Eat your first meal within one hour of getting up. You then eat every three hours after this; three small meals and two snacks. You do not count calories, but rather watch your portions. Combine your food groups with each meal; you can have an Egg McMuffin from McDonald's with low-fat milk and a piece of fruit. Use a 9-inch plate rather than a large dinner plate, and include carbs, protein, vegetables and a small amount of fat at each meal. You can also enjoy a limited amount of junk food, such as licorice, chocolate mints or popcorn, explains Maureen Callahan of Health.com.
Cost
The amount you spend on this diet is up to you. You can purchase the book, or join the online program for $65. This gives you 90 days or 13 weeks of meal plans, access to support boards and forums and daily coaching videos with Cruise. You can use the online program in conjunction with the book. You can begin with a free, seven-day access, after which you will be billed for the 90-day membership.
Results
3HourDiet.com states you can lose 2 lb. per week almost effortlessly, however, this may vary. Before beginning this or any other diet plan, have a complete physical and get the advice of your doctor.
