The physical nature of lacrosse play requires protective gear that covers the entire length of the arm. The elbow pad is one of three protective pieces worn. For proper fit, the three pads together cover all the skin. Purchase the shoulder pads and gloves first. This way, you can buy elbow pads to cover the unprotected area of the arm.
Step 1
Put on one shoulder pad following the directions provided with the pad. Place one lacrosse glove on the same arm.
Step 2
Measure the space on your arm from the lowest edge, nearest to the elbow, of the shoulder pad to the top of the glove. If necessary, have someone do the measuring for you. It is important to cover all the skin on the arm.
Step 3
Write the measurement down and take it to the sporting goods store. Each manufacturer will have different sizing methods. Use the chart from the manufacturer of the pads you are purchasing for the correct size. For example, if the measurement is 10 1/2 inches, find that number on the chart. This will be the correct size for you.
Tips and Warnings
- Consider taking your shoulder pads and gloves with you in case you want to try on the elbow pieces before purchasing. This will help you select the proper size. If you are unsure, buy the pad slightly bigger to get full coverage of the arm. If you measure both arms and come up with different sizes, purchase the bigger pad.
