How to Lose Stubborn Pounds on 80 Percent Raw Diet

Think about the foods you can eat without cooking them, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds -- all the things that are healthy for you and will help you lose weight. An 80 percent raw diet can ensure that you are eating mostly unprocessed and unrefined foods without added fats and sugars that cause weight gain. As an added benefit, raw foods help detoxify the body, improve digestion and help your metabolism operate more efficiently.

Step 1

Eat primarily raw fresh fruits and vegetables at every meal and for snacks for the duration of your diet.

Step 2

Make up the other 20 percent of your diet with protein and good fats. Protein sources can be meat, fish or chicken, but plant protein such as soy, avocado and nuts are better protein sources for weight loss. Good fats can come from olive oil, nuts and avocado.

Step 3

Eliminate grains and dairy from your diet, as well as refined sugar. A small amount of maple syrup or raw honey can be substituted for sugar.

Step 4

Eat plenty of leafy greens, which are high in nutrients and low in calories. They are also high in fiber, which will help fill you up and curb hunger.

Step 5

Choose high fiber fruits for snacks, such as apples, which also contain pectin, a gelatinous substance that expands in the stomach and helps create a feeling of fullness.

Step 6

Drink plenty of water to flush your system and try adding fresh-squeezed lemon juice to your water, which will give your digestive system a boost.

Step 7

Get at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise daily and strength-train three days a week on nonconsecutive days to boost your fitness and speed up your weight loss.
