Sauna suits are suits made of rubber, plastic or nylon, design to make you sweat more when you do exercise. If you wear a sauna suit when jogging, you will sweat more and then boost your metabolism. Your metabolism is the process of converting the food you eat into energy as opposed to being stored as fat. Boosting your metabolism may enhance calorie burning in your body. Sauna suits, however, can raise the temperature of your body too quickly, which may be detrimental to your health. Consult your doctor before using a sauna suit for burning calories when jogging.
Step 1
Put on your sauna suit and make sure it fits comfortably. It should not be too tight or it will stick to your skin when you begin to sweat and this may make it hard for you to jog at a steady pace.
Step 2
Go for a jog in the early hours of the morning, before the sun is high in the sky and the temperature gets too hot. The sauna suit raises the temperature of your body, and if you over-do it by jogging in the middle of the day, you may overheat your body. This can cause severe fatigue and dehydration.
Step 3
Bring a bottle of water while you jog so you can pause to hydrate if needed. Also, drink water before and after your work out.
Step 4
Keep your heart rate at 60 to 65 percent of your maximum heart rate to be in your fat burning zone. To calculate your maximum heart rate, subtract your age from 220.
Step 5
Jog for at least 25 to 30 minutes and try to cover a variety of inclines to get a well-rounded workout to burn calories while wearing your sauna suit.
Step 6
Walk for five minutes after your jog before taking your sauna suit off to allow your body to cool down slowly. This will help you prevent muscle tightness that can happen when you cool down too quickly after exercise.
Tips and Warnings
- You can also jog with your sauna suit at night or in the early afternoon, when the sun is setting and the temperature of the day begins to cool down. If you jog at night, put reflector tape on your sauna suit so automobile drivers can see you on the road.
- Stop using your sauna suit if you feel dizziness or discomfort when jogging.
