To many people, Ocean Spray is synonymous with cranberries, and for good reason. According to their website, Ocean Spray was founded more than 75 years ago by an ambitious collective of three cranberry growers looking to promote the benefits of the cranberries they grew. Their first product was the cranberry juice cocktail. The company now offers a variety of options along with it, including cranberry juice blends, cranberry energy juices and 100 percent juices.

Cranberry Facts

Cranberries are the small, red fruit produced by a vine that grows in sandy bogs. Cranberries are one of only three fruits native to North America, being grown in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Washington, Oregon and Wisconsin. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 110,000 metric tons of cranberries are harvested every year, one-third of which are used in making juices. Cranberries are naturally tart, and many cranberry products contain at least a bit of sugar to make them more palatable. Phyllis A. Balch, C.N.C, author of "Prescription for Nutritional Healing," states that you can make a healthy cranberry juice from unsweetened concentrate, using only a small amount of sugar.

Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail

Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail is one of the staples of the company. It contains 120 calories in each 8 oz. serving. Each serving contains 35 mg sodium and 30 mg potassium, as well as 30 g of carbohydrates with 30 g of sugar. There is no fat or cholesterol in this juice. One serving also contains 100 percent of your vitamin C requirement and 2 percent of your iron requirement for the day.

Ocean Spray 100 Percent Juice Blend

Ocean Spray also makes cranberry juice blends using 100 percent juice. Its Cranberry and Raspberry 100 Percent Juice has 70 calories in a 1/2 cup serving. One serving contains 18 mg sodium, 80 mg potassium and no fats or cholesterol. It has 17 g of carbohydrates with 17 g of sugars in one serving, which also provides 100 percent of the vitamin C, 1 percent of the calcium and 1 percent of the iron daily requirements.

Ocean Spray Cran-Energy Juice

Cran-Energy juices contain cranberry and other juices, along with added B vitamins and green tea extract, and are sweetened with artificial sweetener. Cran-Energy Pomegranate Juice contains 35 calories per 8 oz. serving. One serving provides 50 mg sodium and 9 g of carbohydrates with 9 g of sugar. Like the other juices discussed above, one serving of Cran-Energy Pomegranate Juice has no fats or cholesterol, and it also provides 100 percent of your daily vitamin C requirement.
