Playing many sports requires the use of a hard or soft plastic athletic cup to support your genitals and avoid testicular injuries. In 2009, the Seattle Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre wasn't wearing any protection when a baseball hit him, resulting in a bleeding testicle and 15 days on the disabled list. When playing baseball, pitchers, infielders and especially the catcher should wear a cup; wear it correctly for the most protection and comfort.
Step 1
Pull an athletic supporter over your briefs. Check the leg straps; they should be tight enough to lie flat, keeping them from rolling or twisting.
Step 2
Insert either a hard cup or soft cup into the front of the athletic supporter. Make sure the cup holds your genitals against your body without extra space.
Step 3
Wear spandex or baseball slide shorts over your briefs and athletic supporter. Layering allows your briefs to absorb perspiration, and the spandex or slide shorts hold everything in place securely.
