Vitamins That Increase Skin Development

Nutrients such as vitamin E, C, H and A are all essential for skin development, as they help repair and regrow skin that may be damaged as a result of a skin infection or disorder. These substances can be found in a various selection of foods, easy to supplement into your diet.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is fat soluble, meaning that it is stored in your liver or fatty tissues. Vitamin E is an antioxidant vitamin that protects your skin from free radicals. According to MedlinePlus, free radicals may play a role in the development of aging, possibly causing wrinkles. Vitamin E also encourages blood circulation, assisting in the manufacture of new skin cells and tissues. Good sources of vitamin E include vegetable oils, wheat germ, olives, corn and green leafy veggies.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is also an antioxidant substance, important for preventing free radicals from harming your skin. The University of Maryland Medical Center reports that vitamin C is important for the formation and repair of skin tissues. Also, vitamin C is necessary for aiding your body in the production of collagen, a protein that is used when creating skin. Low intake of vitamin C may result in your skin becoming scaly or dry. Vitamin C is found in foods such as tomatoes, raspberries, cauliflower, watermelon, red peppers, mango, oranges and strawberries.

Vitamin H

Vitamin H is also known as "biotin", part of the B group of vitamins. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, all B vitamins, including vitamin H, is important for healthy skin. Unfortunately, low intake of this nutrient may cause your skin to become scaly or dry, which may affect the normal development of your skin. Vitamin H is found in foods such as cooked eggs, pecans, brewers yeast, mushrooms, beans and whole grains.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble substance. According to MedlinePlus, vitamin A is necessary for the formation of skin. Vitamin A is another antioxidant vitamin, important for protecting your skin from free radicals. Good food sources of this vitamin include pumpkin, cod, pink grapefruit, eggs, sweet potatoes, carrots, cheese and winter squashes.
