Kashi, the makers of crackers, cookies, entrees, pizza, pilaf, waffles, snack bars, and hot and cold cereals, has added three varieties of granola to the lineup. Found in most health food stores as well as large grocery retailers, Kashi products are most often considered a "health food" because of the cereal's whole grains and natural ingredients.

Kashi Seven Whole Grain and Sesame Blend

The essential ingredients in most Kashi cereals include Kashi's proprietary "seven whole grain mix" consisting of whole-grain oats and barley, winter wheat and rye, long-grain brown rice, buckwheat, triticale and sesame seeds. Kashi most often uses evaporated cane juice syrup and honey as natural sweeteners as well as fruit concentrates in cereals containing fruit.

Kashi Cocoa Beach Granola

Kashi's whole-grain cereals tend to be more "healthy" than most choices in the cereal aisle of your local grocer. This variety has 230 calories per one-half cup serving with 9 g of fat, 140 mg of sodium and 170 mg of potassium. Each serving has 36 g of total carbohydrates with 3 g of soluble fiber, 4 g of insoluble fiber and 11 g of sugars. Each serving also has 6 g of protein. One serving of this cereal provides 25 percent of your daily fiber as outlined in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005.

Kashi Mountain Medley Granola

Kashi Mountain Medley is more like gorp or trail mix than granola. A one-half cup serving of this variety provides 220 calories with 7 g of fat, 120 mg of sodium and 140 mg of potassium. Each serving provides 38 g of total carbohydrates, including 2 g of soluble fiber, 5 g of insoluble fiber and 12 g of sugars, with 19 g of other carbohydrates. One serving also has 6 g of protein. This cereal provides 300 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, essential for a healthy diet. Mountain Medley contains cranberries, raisins, coconut, almonds, pecans and sunflower seeds.

Kashi Summer Berry Granola

Kashi Summer Berry has 220 calories per one-half cup serving, with 6 g of fat, 150 mg of sodium and 160 mg of potassium. Each serving has 39 g of carbohydrates with 3 g of soluble fiber, 4 g of insoluble fiber and 9 g of sugars. Each serving also has 6 g of protein. One serving of this cereal provides 29 percent daily value of fiber. Mountain Berry contains freeze-dried strawberries, blackberries and kiwi.
