According to the Centers for Disease Control, 68 percent of Americans are overweight or obese. Eating large portions of food is a contributing factor, because a high calorie intake results in weight gain. Using methods to improve your nutrition and reduce your caloric intake can help you lose weight. Incorporate ice into your diet to make dietary changes more tolerable.

Step 1

Make a fruit smoothie. Because you should set a goal to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day, you can drink one or two smoothies to increase your servings. Add ice to fruits, such as strawberries, apples, peaches and berries, to make a smoothie. Unlike juicing, in which the pulp is extracted, smoothies contain the pulp, which is high in fiber. Increased fiber intake will help you feel full and lose weight.

Step 2

Use ice to improve your hydration, which is essential to weight loss. Mayo Clinic recommends drinking at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water per day to maintain hydration. If you dislike warm or room-temperature water, adding ice to a glass of water will make drinking it more enjoyable for you. Combine a full glass of ice-cold water with a healthy, low-calorie meal to lose weight.

Step 3

Freeze chopped fruit in an ice cube tray to create a satisfying, low-calorie snack. Add chopped fruit to an ice tray and cover it with water or fruit juice. Freeze the tray overnight. Enjoy the frozen fruit the next day when you have the urge to snack, particularly during the warmer months. Replace high-calorie cookies and chips with frozen fruit snacks to lose weight.
