Grass-fed organic beef is an excellent source of good quality protein and fat. According to Dr. Joseph Mercola, grass-fed beef has over twice the amount of omega 3, over three times the amount of the "good fat" CLA, and 400 percent more vitamin A than grain-fed beef has. To get the most out of this nutritionally dense, tasty meat, it is important that you cook it correctly.
Step 1
Tenderize your meat using a steel meat tenderizer. If you do not own one of these, simply place your beef in a tightly tied sandwich bag, place it on a chopping board and hit it for 20 seconds on each side with a blunt object. Remove the beef from the bag and place it in a glass bowl.
Step 2
Rub herbs, spices or marinades into the meat and leave it to stand for two hours in the fridge to infuse the flavors. Place your griddle pan onto a stove set to high, and allow the pan to warm for a minute.
Step 3
Cook your steak as it is, or use some oil, especially if your pan isn't non-stick. Add a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil to the pan 10 seconds before you add your beef.
Step 4
Cook your beef to your liking. An average grass-fed organic beef steak should cook for around two minutes on either side if you like it rare, three to four minutes for medium, and five to six for well done. Remove your beef from the pan, let it stand for 10 minutes and serve it with a selection of vegetables.
