Souper Salad is an all-you-can-eat salad and soup buffet that offers a variety of fresh ingredients, including a wide selection of fruits and vegetables. The buffet also includes pizza made on thin crust, and can include five different kinds: cheese, pepperoni, sausage, vegetable and mushroom. Each of these types of pizza provide some nutrients, but are high in fat, so stick to just one slice and fill up on a large salad instead.

Fat

While many of the menu items at Souper Salad, including the fruits, vegetables and some of the soups, are low in fat, the pizza is not one of them. The meats and cheese drive up the fat content so adding more than one slice to your meal may cause you to consume too much fat. One slice of pepperoni pizza contains 19 g of total fat, while the cheese, sausage, vegetable and mushroom varieties each contain 18 g. Between 2 and 2.5 g of this is saturated fat, which MayoClinic.com recommends that you limit in your diet to help prevent Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Sodium

The high sodium content of each type of pizza, particularly the pepperoni and sausage, also decreases the nutritional value of the pizza from Souper Salad. If you consume too much sodium, you may be putting yourself at risk for medical problems like high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease. Sticking to just one slice will help you monitor the overall sodium content of your meal. The cheese pizza contains 170 mg of sodium per slice, the pepperoni 240 mg, the sausage 220 mg, the vegetable 170 mg and the mushroom 180 mg.

Vitamins and Minerals

The pizza from Souper Salad does provide some important vitamins and minerals that increase the nutrition of your lunch or dinner. The cheese supplies 8 percent of the calcium your bones and teeth need each day. You will also get 2 percent of the vitamin A you need each day as well as 8 percent of the iron you require. The vegetable pizza supplies 8 percent of your vitamin C needs, and the other varieties each supply 2 percent.

Protein and Fiber

The crust adds 1 g of fiber to your meal, and the toppings on the vegetable pizza bring the fiber total of this variety up to 2 g. Increasing your daily intake of fiber may play a role in lowering your cholesterol and helping you maintain a healthy blood sugar balance, MayoClinic.com notes. The pizza from Souper Salad also supplies some protein. The cheese, vegetable and mushroom slices contains 4 g of protein, which you need for energy. The pepperoni and sausage varieties contain 5 g of protein.
