Chocolate fondue is one of the most versatile desserts you can make because you have many options for the sweet treats to dip in the chocolate. You can choose to dip a medley of fresh fruits, or opt for sinful coconut-encrusted marshmallows and pound cake instead. You can also add to the chocolate for an additional layer of complexity. White chocolate, peanut butter or mint chips, crushed peanuts, or liqueurs such as amaretto or Irish cream can take chocolate fondue to a whole other level.
Step 1
Heat 1 cup of the cream over medium heat until the cream begins to bubble.
Step 2
Place the chopped chocolate or chocolate chips into the cream and stir constantly. You should stir the chocolate fondue frequently to ensure that it doesn't scald.
Step 3
Add the liqueur and nuts, if you are using them. Stir until they are well-mixed.
Step 4
Use your fondue fork to dip the items in the chocolate. Allow the chocolate a moment to cool, and enjoy.
Tips and Warnings
- If the chocolate begins to thicken, add 1 tbsp. of cream at a time until the correct consistency is restored.
- Do not serve fondue with liqueur to children. The chocolate fondue does not get hot enough to cook the alcohol out of the mixture.
