Shoes may be a girl's best friend, but not so much when they cause you to slip and possiblly injure yourself. Whether you are going dancing, on a date or on a business affair, you don't want your shoes to fail you. Not only can slipping and falling be dangerous, but it can also be embarrassing. If your shoes don't already have a sufficient amount of traction on the soles, there are steps you can take to make them more reliable.
Step 1
Put non-slip shoe pads to the bottom of your shoes. These can easily be applied by removing the backing off of the shoe pads and adhering them to the soles of your shoes.
Step 2
Cut pieces of masking tape to apply to the soles of your shoes. Trim around the edges of your shoes to get rid of any excess tape that is showing. Masking tape was invented by Dick Drew in 1925 as a tape to be used in the auto industry that had a less-aggressive adhesive. This trick, also used by many models, will add traction to your shoes, helping to prevent you from sliding.
Step 3
Affix a thin piece of rubber to your soles. You can find rubber pieces at an arts and crafts store or a home improvement store. You can also take the rubber off of an old pair of tennis shoes. Cut the rubber down to size and apply it to the soles of your shoes with shoe glue designed to hold rubber.
