Gold's Gym has expanded to more than 600 franchised locations around the world. Founded in 1965 in California, Gold's bills itself as the largest global coed gym on the planet. In addition to offering cardiovascular and weightlifting equipment to its members, many gyms offer fitness classes ranging from introductory to high impact.

MMA Conditioning and BodyCombat

Martial arts expert Frank Thiboutot developed the first kickboxing fitness class in 1992, taking the sport's fundamental attacking moves and creating a high-impact aerobics program. Gold's Gym capitalized on the vast popularity of mixed martial arts in 2011 to create an MMA conditioning program that improves fitness and fighting ability. The gym promises improved speed, strength, conditioning and flexibility. While the MMA Conditioning Class is directed at fighters in training, the Gold's Gym BodyCombat program is a high-impact cardio kickboxing class. BodyCombat incorporates punches and kicks from multiple martial arts disciplines.

BodyPump

Gold's Gym's BodyPump program is a freeweight training program. Described as "the original barbell class," the 60-minute program incorporates basic weight lifts — squats, presses, lifts and curls — to strengthen and tone major muscle groups.

BodyAttack

BodyAttack is the trademark name for the Gold's Gym interval training program. The hour-long class melds traditional aerobics with strength training for a high-energy, high-impact workout. The program's website claims that BodyAttack's benefits include increased calorie burning, toning, coordination and stamina.

BodyFlow

Gold's Gym locations offer Pilates and a wide range of yoga programs. It also offers BodyFlow, a hybrid program that incorporates positions and relaxation technique from yoga, Pilates and tai chi. According to Gold's website, "Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses" are employed to building flexibility and strength.

GGX Cycle

Many Gold's Gym locations offer high-intensity cycling programs focused on endurance and speed. Recognized that this type of class is not for everyone, Gold's also provides the GGX Cycle program. This group cycling class lowers the intensity of cycling class, with a custom riding plan for all levels of participation.
