Lisinopril (Prinivil) is used to treat high blood pressure and can be used (with other medications) to treat heart failure. After you experience a heart attack, it can be used to improve chances of survival. Lisinopril works by decreasing the amount of chemicals in the body that tighten blood vessels (angiotensin-converting enzymes). This allows blood to flow more easily through the body and the heart to move blood more efficiently. Lisinopril comes in tablet form and is usually taken one time per day. Lisinopril must be prescribed by your doctor, and you should continue to take it even when feeling better.
Common Side Effects
