Cellulite is a non-medical term to describe unformed fat that pushes against the connective tissues under your skin. This causes a bumpy cottage cheese-like appearance on your thighs or any part of your body. Both women and men can get cellulite, but it is more common in women. Cellulite can be made worse by weight gain. Fortunately, there are many non-surgical methods to get rid of cellulite.
Step 1
Apply anti-cellulite gel or lotion to the affected areas. These products can get rid of cellulite in about five to eight months if used properly. There are numerous anti-cellulite products available in the market and you can purchase one at your local health food store or pharmacy. Make sure to look for a lotion that contains Retinol A, a powerful ingredient found in anti-aging creams that is also used to plump the skin that has been affected by cellulite. Ask the pharmacist to assist you in choosing the best anti-cellulite lotion or gel.
Step 2
Go to a spa or salon and get a lipomassage, a method used to lessen the appearance of cellulite quickly. You may need to undergo 10 to 20 sessions to completely eliminate the cellulite. During your session, the massage therapist will vigorously massage the affected areas to knead out the dimpled skin.
Step 3
Stay away from foods that are rich in saturated fat and cholesterol. These include meats (processed meats, sausage, hot dogs and bacon), ice cream, pastries and egg yolks. Instead, eat a well-balanced diet, which contains a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eating foods that are low in fat can keep you fit and help get rid of cellulite gradually over time.
Step 4
Do strength training and cardio exercises for one hour every day. Doing these types of exercises will gradually eliminate cellulite from the affected areas and ensure your body doesn't relocate the cellulite elsewhere. Make sure to consult your doctor prior to beginning an exercise program.
Step 5
Consider getting laser therapy to get rid of cellulite. This simple and non-invasive procedure is performed by a dermatologist. The physician will use a laser to attack and dissolve the fat in the affected areas. It usually takes about four to five sessions to get rid of the cellulite.
