How to Lose Belly Fat in 30 Days for Free

By eating nutritious, healthful foods and exercising regularly, you can lose your belly fat without spending any money on a gym membership, personal trainer or workout DVDs. How will you know when you've gotten rid of your stubborn belly fat? You need to set a specific, measurable goal to work towards. For example, you could set a goal of losing two inches from your waist or being able to fit into your favorite pair of jeans. Each of these goals leads to the same result which is to lose belly fat, but you'll actually be able to accomplish the goal.

Step 1

Keep track of everything you eat and the amount of calories that you're consuming for three days before you start your 30 day fitness goal. At the end of the three days add up all the calories you've consumed and divide the number by three. This is the average amount of calories that you're eating each day.

Step 2

Find out how many calories you need to be consuming on a daily basis to lose weight according to your height and weight. You can do this with the calorie counter on the American Cancer Society's website (see resources).

Step 3

Start eating the right amount of calories. When you cut your calories, eat nutritious, healthful foods, so you'll stay full during the day and be able to stick to your diet. Try to eat at least nine servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Eat two to three servings of vegetables for dinner by always starting with a salad filled with a variety of vegetables. Stay away from creamy dressings that are packed with fat and calories.

Step 4

Integrate cardio and weight training into your daily workout routine. According to "Fitness" magazine, this is the best way to lose belly fat. Try to fit in 30 to 60 minutes of intense cardio such as running or biking at least three times per week. Also, lift weights which you can easily do at home with a set of hand weights for 45 to 60 minutes three times per week. Weight lifting helps your body build lean muscle mass and it burns fat for hours after the workout.

Step 5

Do the 21 minute ab makeover on the "Fitness" magazine website (see resources) three times a week. All you need for this exercise routine is an exercise mat, but you can use a beach towel or yoga mat instead. A jump rope is optional, so if you don't have one, you can pretend.
