The Perfect Pushup was created by a former Navy Seal, Alden Mills. The major feature of the Perfect Pushup are the rotating handles. While the handles rotate, they are also a few inches above the ground. This feature reduces the stress on the wrist joint. With all of these features, the Perfect Pushup gives you an advantage over performing traditional pushups making them more challenging and putting more stress on your muscles.
Rotating Handles
The rotating handles allows your arms to rotate while performing pushups. This rotating motion is the way the wrist was naturally meant to twist, which reduces the amount of stress placed on the wrists. The position of the handles also allow your hands to be in a neutral position which reduces stress placed on the wrist even more.
More Muscles Worked
During a study performed by the American Council on Exercise, the Perfect Pushup elicited greater muscle activation in the chest, shoulders and triceps when compared to a traditional pushup. With more muscle activation, the perfect pushup will decrease the amount of time you will have to wait to see results.
Increased Stability
Due to the elevation of the Perfect Pushup, it places more stress on the shoulders. While this can be challenging for those that have good stability in their shoulder, it can be risky for those that do not. Those that have unstable shoulders could see an increased risk of injury with the use of the Perfect Pushup.
Versatility
An important thing to look for when purchasing fitness equipment is to look at its versatility. The Perfect Pushup which goes for around $40, as of May 2011, can be used to perform different types of pushups. With this equipment you have the ability to perform close pushups and wide pushups. While you can perform these pushups without the use Perfect pushup, using it activates more muscles and can add stability to your shoulder.
