How to Bake Canned Tuna

The tastiest way to bake canned tuna is as an ingredient in another dish. Tuna casserole is a classic meal that works for dinner, lunch or as a holiday side dish. The versatility of a casserole allows you to experiment with different mixes to come up a family favorite. By combining the canned tuna with vegetables and a sauce, you build a dish that is filling and nutritious.

Step 1

Thaw the packages of frozen vegetables either by setting them out a few hours before making the casserole or by placing them in a bowl of hot water.

Step 2

Cook the rice following the instructions on the package. This may mean steaming in the microwave or boiling on the stove.

Step 3

Open and drain the cans of tuna.

Step 4

Mix all ingredients, except the rice, bread crumbs and cheese, in a casserole dish and stir thoroughly with a spoon.

Step 5

Add the rice into the dish and stir until it is distributed evenly throughout the pan.

Step 6

Mix the bread crumbs and cheese in a mixing bowl and sprinkle on top of the casserole.

Step 7

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and place the dish in the center of the top rack.

Step 8

Bake the casserole for 30 minutes and then remove the foil and allow the crust to brown.

Step 9

Set on top of the stove for 10 minutes and then serve.

  • 1 bag frozen broccoli
  • 1 1/3 cups rice
  • 2 cans tuna
  • 1 can of mushroom soup
  • 6 oz. milk
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
