Broccoli contains high amounts of dietary fiber, vitamins C and K and phosphorus. It has a strong flavor, reminiscent of cabbage or lettuce, that is complemented by a variety of sauces. A garlic sauce will meld with broccoli's taste and introduce extra vitamin C and calcium to the meal. You can make garlic sauce for broccoli in less than 10 minutes. The finished recipe yields approximately 1/3 cup of sauce or enough for about 2 cups of broccoli.
Step 1
Combine the garlic, vegetable broth, soy sauce and sesame oil in a mixing bowl. Whisk the ingredients for approximately 10 seconds and set aside.
Step 2
Mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and whisk to blend. Continue whisking until the cornstarch dissolves into the water completely.
Step 3
Pour the contents of the mixing bowl and small bowl into a saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium-low heat.
Step 4
Stir the sauce with a wooden spoon until it comes to a simmer. Leave the garlic sauce to simmer for one minute and remove from the heat.
Step 5
Drizzle over broccoli or serve as a dipping sauce while hot.
Tips and Warnings
