How to Make Drinks With Rum, Orange Juice and Ice Cream

On a hot summer day or while on vacation, a frozen tropical drink can be just what you need to wind down. The combination of orange juice and ice cream creates a drink that is fruity and creamy. Rum is a sweet alcohol that may be made from sugar cane liquid, molasses or cane syrup. Mix these ingredients in various ways to create tasty and refreshing drink.

Rum Creamsicle

Step 1

Pour 8 oz. orange juice into the blender. To make your drink colder and give it a slushier consistency, freeze orange juice cubes before preparing this drink.

Step 2

Put two scoops of vanilla ice cream into the blender. Depending on the thickness that you desire, use more or less ice cream.

Step 3

Add the coconut rum. You can use dark rum in its place or in addition to the coconut rum.

Step 4

Blend ingredients at low speed. Continue to blend until ingredients are fully mixed.

Florida Piña Colada

Step 1

Pour 3 oz. orange juice and two splashes of pineapple juice into the blender. To make your drink colder and give it a slushier consistency, you can freeze orange juice cubes prior to preparing this drink.

Step 2

Put two scoops of vanilla ice cream into the blender. Depending on the thickness that you desire, add more or less ice cream.

Step 3

Add the cream to the ingredients in the blender. This will give your pina colada a rich taste.

Step 4

Put 3/4 oz of coconut rum and 3/4 oz of dark rum in blender. You can use more or less rum depending on the amount of alcohol you desire. (See Reference 2)

Step 5

Add two ice cubes. For more flavor, substitute the ice cubes with juice cubes.

Step 6

Blend ingredients at low speed. Continue to blend until ingredients are fully mixed.

  • 11 oz. orange juice
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 1 1/2 oz. coconut rum
  • 3/4 oz. dark rum
  • 1 oz. pineapple juice
  • 3/4 oz. cream
  • 2 ice cubes
