Different Centrum Products.
All Centrum products contain, basically, the same vitamins and minerals but in different quantities. The main vitamin variations are Vitamin C, D, E and the B complex. Additionally, Centrum for men contains lycopene. Centrum Performance has higher daily values of the B complex and, additionally, it contains ginseng root. Centrum cardio contains phytosterols that, according to "Integrative Medicine," help prevent heart disease by reducing LDL cholesterol levels. Centrum for kids comes in different flavors such as cherry, orange and fruit punch.
Multivitamins
According to Pfizer, multivitamins function in several ways. First, they help to support the immune system with nutrients that enhance the immune system's functions. Additionally, multivitamins help to neutralize free radical damage in your body with antioxidants such as lycopene and vitamins C and E. Further, the intake of both vitamin D together with calcium can help keep your bones healthy.
Multivitamin Usefulness
According to "Integrative Medicine," certain groups of people can benefit from multivitamin supplementation. For example, an individual with cancer that has difficulty consuming a normal diet could benefit from a multivitamin. Additionally, vegetarians can benefit from vitamin B-12, and the elderly can benefit from taking calcium and vitamin D. "Integrative Medicine" further states that for an average, healthy individual multivitamin supplementation is not necessary. The regulatory system in a healthy individual will not allow the absorption of any substance that is already at optimum levels.
