Tennis drills for six people will help improve your ability to play with multiple partners while on a tennis court. While the maximum amount of players in a regulation match is four (doubles), six-person tennis drills usually are for beginners and players looking to have a fun time with friends.

Baseline Net Scoring Drill

This drill is designed to improve your defense and hitting from different angles. Have one pair of people line up on the baseline of one side of the court, another pair on the other baseline, and the other couple directly in front of the net on one side. Have the pair who are alone on one side hit the ball to the other side to start the game. If it gets past the group at the net, the baseline team has a chance to score a point. If the baseline players spike the ball down for a score they get a point. Simply returning the ball back across the net does not give your team a point. A rally will ensue between both sides until someone hits the ball past the opposing team or teams. If the single pair hits the ball past the other four players, it does not get a point. That pair is in the game for defense purposes only. Because the team closer to the net has an advantage, it starts at minus 2 points. First team to 11 wins. The game is a competition between the pairs on the same side of the net.

Pair Drill Game

This drill is designed to improve your doubles play. Break up six players into two teams of three. Have each team stand in a regular doubles position, leaving one player out of the game until the next point. Have the two teams play a regular game, awarding 5 points for a baseline winner and 10 points for a clean winner at the net. Award 25 points for an overhead winner and minus 1 for an error. After each point, rotate a new player into the game. The first team to 105 wins.

Warm-Up Sprint Drill

This drill is designed to warm up your legs and cardiovascular system prior to a match. Have three people line up on each baseline on the court. On your whistle, have the players run to the service line, touching the line with one hand before sprinting back to the baseline. Once they sprint back to the baseline, have them touch the baseline and run to the net. Have each player touch the net before sprinting back to the baseline. Have them rest for 30 seconds and repeat 10 times before completing the drill.

3 on 3 Serving Drill

Have three players line up on a each side of the net. Have one stand at the service line, one at the baseline and one in front of the net. Have one of the players standing in the service position serve the ball across the net. If he gets the ball in the corresponding service box his team gets 1 point. An ace is worth 3 points. If the ball is cleanly returned but hit in the box, the players will go three on three, not being allowed to move from their positions, until one team scores. The first team to 20 wins.
