Pork loin is a large, oval cut taken from just above a pig's rib cage. The meat is tender with a soft, sweet flavor and minimal fat content. Pork loin goes well with a combination of rich and light seasonings to accentuate the full spectrum of the meat's flavor. Roasted pork loin is baked at high temperatures in the oven to brown the outer meat and infuse it with flavor. To roast a pork loin in a pan, you will need approximately 45 minutes per pound.

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Place the pork loin in the pan, fat side facing down. Coat the pork loin's exterior with your favorite meat rub. If you do not have one, combine garlic, parsley, pepper and salt in a small bowl. Mix it with your fingers and rub it over the pork loin's exterior.

Step 3

Poke a meat thermometer into the loin's thickest part. Cover the pork loin with a tent of aluminum foil, leaving the thermometer visible.

Step 4

Place the pork loin in the oven and bake until the meat thermometer registers 155 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 5

Remove the pork loin from the oven and allow the meat to stand, covered with foil, for 10 minutes. Slice and serve while hot.

Tips and Warnings

  • Allow leftover pork to come to room temperature before refrigerating to prevent bacterial growth. Consume leftovers within two days.
